In the early 1800’s, two German scholars, the brothers Jakob and Wilhelm, published a collection of folk stories called “Grimm’s Fairy Tales”. Only a few of the stories included fairies. One tale, “Rumpelstiltskin” tells of a fairy who spins gold from straw.
