About the Venezian Fairy Kingdom

On November 12, 2019, the City of Venice welcomed Princess Buttercup. She is the Fairy representative for the newly formed Fairy Kingdom of Venezia that was created in Venice, Florida. The King and Queen sent her to the City Council to receive a proclamation of welcome. After several scouting trips, the fairies chose Venice for their new kingdom. They found Venice to have abundant sources of water, thriving stands of trees, magnificent flowers, blossoming bushes and many neighborly creatures in the woods.

The fairies were impressed with the variety and culture of our community. Lovers of art, music, theatre and dancing, they were dazzled with our community’s offerings. They have also found the people to be very friendly and helpful. Volunteers at Venice MainStreet have helped them to find locations for their new homes. Artists at the Venice Art Center and ceramics students from Venice High School’s Art Department have helped to design their new habitats to accommodate their personal tastes. If you look sharp, you may find the fairy doors appearing throughout our historic downtown. Please don’t disturb their houses or scare them. They may move or disappear if frightened. Venice is proud to welcome fairies to our town.

Honey

Honey is known for her love of bees and honey. She rides the bees in order to direct them to the flowers with the best pollen. Hives are watched over closely to make sure they are not disturbed. He is not above sampling other drips and drops of beer and wine that may come his way. Do not use her as an excuse to leave your vegetables on the plate. She will frown on this behavior. Sweet treats like dessert attract her attention, watch for her to hover around your table, looking for luscious crumbs.
